Abstract
The digital economy is a novel paradigm characterized by distinct features, structures, and mechanisms. Its adoption has engendered significant transformations across diverse sectors, thereby facilitating the modernization and enhancement of conventional industries. The correlation between the ecological progress of the global community and the carbon emissions generated by diverse companies is frequently seen. Enhancing the energy efficiency of industrial operations throughout the manufacturing phase is widely acknowledged as a catalyst for mitigating carbon emissions and enhancing economic gains. In the context of the digital economy, data has the potential to significantly mitigate carbon emissions in both regional and industrial contexts while concurrently fostering economic development. Hence, this study aims to examine the relationship between the digital economy and carbon emissions by synthesizing existing domestic and international research. Additionally, a sample dataset consisting of 30 provinces in China (excluding Tibet, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) from 2012 to 2021 is utilized.
