About Open Access Repository@USM

 

Universiti Sains Malaysia Institutional Repository (USMIR) or Open Access Repository@USM is an online storage system that's capable to increase the interoperability, accessibility and visibility of scholarly materials. It has worked together with multiple index systems as well as search engine systems, especially Google. ​ It has a variety of electronic scholarly materials such as articles from Open Access journals, academic magazines, books, thesis, examination papers, research reports, photographs and others. USMIR provides free access around the world and can be used freely for research and learning. USM researchers are encouraged to submit Open Access scholarly materials to USMIR by contacting Digitalization and Repository Librarians.

Copyright Information

All materials deposited here are a collection of online archive. The deposit of material in this repository will not change or affect the original material involving Intellectual Property Rights or Copyrights.

In addition, depositing materials in USMIR will not restrict authors or creators to publish their works in other places because the main purpose of this repository is to provide reference materials to individuals and the University in the form of online for research and learning purposes. Perpustakaan Hamzah Sendut is the department responsible for managing the repository as a whole.

All materials deposited here are set as Open Access in a manner require by university policy. For example, the thesis is under "Dasar Penerbitan Tesis" while other material copyright is referred back to full text of each title. It is based on a case by case basis. It can be on the first page or last page or another page that appears copyright statement. The repository is apply "flexible" standard of Open Access. The repository will justify to Creative Commons license if the author of material said so, and request to the administrator of the repository system

A publisher or an author raise a complaint need email to eprints@usm.my. You are need to justify the copyright is being infringed by this Repository. The full text of work in question will be immediately withdrawn from public access while the complaint is being investigated. All investigations arising from a take down request will be done in accordingly manner.

1. Where the full text of USM thesis or exam papers Computer Science and Mathematics via online?

For your information, Open Access Repository USM is sharing bibliographic information of thesis and 24 first pages only.

2. For USM community members only, Please follow the steps to access full text of USM thesis via online.

i. Click Off Campus Log In Via OpenAthens.

ii. Log in via USM email.

iii. Scroll down, you will see USM e-Thesis Collection Within USM Net Only and click the link.

iii. If you could not find it, please click Reset panels. Then, try again scroll down and click USM e-Thesis Collection Within USM Net Only the same link.

iv. If, Your connection is not private appear, please click Advanced and click Proceed to ethesis.usm.my unsafe.

v. Begin your searching on search box.

3. Why I cannot register log in on USM Open Access Repository website to download full text of theses?

Log in EPrints web system is limited to library staff only. If you are USM members, Please refer question no. 1 to access full text of theses via online.

4. I am students or lecturers from other university, can I access USM thesis via online?

No. Please refer to Malaysiana and Archive Division office hours for further information.

If you are request to download full-text of theses, please be informed that the theses are restricted to 24 first pages only via public domain. The full-text of theses are only applicable access in the library physically. Please contact person incharge Muhammad Akmal Ahmat. You can get his personal email via USM Library website.
