Abstract
A significant demand of energy in tropical university classrooms lead to the need of building solution that integrated energy generation and effective daylighting. This study investigates the performance of glass cladding Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) to determine optimum configurations that enhance both energy and daylighting performance. The objective is to identify the most effective configurations of glass cladding BIPV that optimize energy generation while ensuring adequate daylighting for tropical university classrooms. To achieve this, simulationbased experiments were conducted using HelioScope and Velux to assess several models which were developed based on opening types, room geometry, and orientations. Variables include PV cell coverage ratio and efficiency, visible transmittance of PV and transparent substrate, and room surface reflectance.
