Abstract
This study addresses the following research questions: (1) What are the lived experiences of older people ageing in place within their community in Taiping City? (2) To what extent does the existing physical infrastructure in Taiping City support older people who reside independently? (3) How do the capability (experiences of older people) and resources (physical infrastructure) shape ageing in place in Taiping City? The aim of this study is to explore the characteristics of an ideal community that enables older people to age in place, framed through the Capability Approach. Specifically, the study examines the relationship between older people’s capabilities (their experiences and functioning) and the available resources (infrastructure and services).
