Abstract

The diversity of microbe associated with captive and wild tropical barn owl is indeed diverse in general. Given that owls can harbour both beneficial and harmful microbes, understanding their microbial diversity is crucial for identifying the potential of infectious diseases spreading either to human, plants and crops. The aim of this study is to determine the diversity and abundance of microbial communities associated with captive and wild barn owls, investigate the effects of dietary components and geographical locations of the owl on these microbial populations, and discover key microbial species through the owl. All fresh regurgitated pellets were retrieved from each owl from their own site which are Aviari USM, Bumbung Lima and Jengka.
