Abstract

Recent studies have highlighted the negative environmental effects of petroleum-based plastics, emphasizing the increasing demand for biodegradable and smart food packaging materials. A sustainable and pH-sensitive food packaging film based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, 8%), microcrystalline cellulose (MCC, 2%), and anthocyanin (9% w/w) was developed using a solvent casting method in this study.
