The Effect Of Gold Nanoparticle Size In Breast Cancer MCF-7 Cell Line Treatment By X-Ray And Linear Accelerator (LINAC).
PhD thesis, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Abstract
Gold Nanoparticles (AuNPs) has been used to enhance the radiation effects in MCF-7 breast ardenocarcinoma cell line by radiotherapy equipments. AuNPs can be used during radiation therapy to kill cancer cells in order to reduce the dose of radiation to kill the tumours, while at the same time sparing the normal tissue. The irradiation were done using superficial kilovoltage X-rays and megavoltage photon beams in radiotherapy which are via X-ray machine and Linear Accelerator (LINAC). In this work, MCF-7 cells are seeded in the 96-well plate and were treated with three different sizes of AuNPs (13 nm, 50 nm, and 70 nm) before they were irradiated with 80 kVp and 20 mAs X-ray beams, 6 MV, and 10 MV photon beam at various radiation doses.
