Abstract

Road accidents are a major phenomenon that concerns many quarters, especially the government. This problem needs to be seriously addressed by all parties as statistics show that fatalities involving motorcyclists is the highest compared to other road users. In view of this, the identification of the problems and issues contributing to the occurrence of accidents amongst motorcyclists is crucial in ensuring that appropriate road safety campaigns can be formulated to counter these problems and issues. Past studies indicate that the attitude of motorcyclists is the main factor contributing to the occurrence of road accidents. Among some of the common causes of road accidents are speeding, traffic light offences, tailing another vehicle in close proximity, carelessness ofthe rider and others. The main objective ofthis study is to survey the attitude of motorcyclists in facing the risks on the road.
