PhD thesis, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Abstract
Nineteenth years after the war, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is still facing a problem
of weak national identity and ethnic and religious divisions that are further preventing
the country from reaching sustainable peace and development. The educational system is
divided too. By tracing the roots of these problems, this study tries to answer research
questions about challenges that BiH has been facing on its way to peace transformation;
about relation between current educational system and development of sustainable peace
in BiH; as well as to answer how to achieve positive and sustainable peace in BiH
through peace education. The data collection included secondary data analysis and semistructured in-depth interview with stakeholders in BiH
