Abstract
The increasing prevalence of obesity among adults in Malaysia is worrying and this has
created a new phenomenon called the metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is
associated with non communicable disease such as diabetes mellitus, heart diseases and
hyperlipidemia. The objective of this intervention study is to evaluate the effects of diet
management and physical activity on adults with metabolic syndrome after 6 months of
intervention. This quasi experimental study was conducted on 50 respondents
(intervention) in Klinik Kesihatan Dong and 50 respondents (control) in Klinik Kesihatan
Tersang. Assessment of nutritional status which include anthropometry measurements,
biochemical and dietary assessment, as well as physical activity were measured during
pre and post intervention.
