    Abstract

    Sifat mekanik poliamida 6 diperkuat gentian kaca telah dikaji sebagai fungsi dan kelembapan. Ujian lenturan, regangan padat dan mekanik dinamik telah digunakan untuk pencirian sifat komposit pada kandungan isipadu gentian berbeza. Kajian penuaan higroterma dijalankan dengan menggunakan kinetik penyerapan kelembapan. Peresapan air ke dalam komposit telah dikaji pada kelembapan 100% menerusi perendaman spesimen ke dalam air pada suhu-suhu 27°C, 60°C dan 90°C. Model fasa tunggal bebas peresapan dengan anggapan peresapan adalah Fickian dan juga hukum peresapan Fick kedua telah digunakan. The mechanical properties of short fibre reinforced poliamide 6 was investigated as a function of temperature and humidity. Flexural strength, regangan padat and dynamic" tests were used to characterise the composites properties at various fibre loadings. Hygrothermal studies were carried out using moisture absorption kinetics. The absorption of water into the composites was carried out at 100% humidity, i.e, by immersing the specimens in water at temperatures of 27°C, 60°C and 90°C. The single free phase diffusion model which assumed Fickian diffusion and utilised Fick's second law of diffusion was used.
