Abstract
The A rchitecture, E ngineering, C on struction and O peration (AECO) industry is a key player in the economic development of Iraq. At present, t he AECO industry focus es on eliminating waste and inefficiency to improve quality and profitability . Building I nformation M odelling (BIM) enables a re liable and timely exchange of information with benefits such as promoting the early creation of pivotal data necessary for designing, detailing, resource saving, productivity enhancement , and quality improvement. Accordingly, BIM adoption has become a nece ssity for the AECO industry to achieve the aims of the industry , ensure sustainable practices, and enhance performance and profitability. R esearchers found that the main barriers to the BIM adoption in different countries are lack of training and learning , as well as resistance to change. The BIM adopters have different levels of aptitude, flexibility , and logical thinking, their learning styles in BIM training should be considered to ensure the effectiveness of BIM adoption. Therefore, this study aims to i dentify the dominant (preferred) learning style of employees and investigate the effects of th is learning style on the employees’ attitudes towards BIM at the National Centre for Engineering Consultancy (NCEC) in Iraq. Furthermore, this study examines the mediating role of training experience between the dominant learning style of the BIM adopters and the BIM adoption at the NCEC. Preliminary investigation and a quantitative research method were applied in this study. The t hematic analysis of the preliminar y interview data present ed a clear picture of the problem and validate d the
