Abstract
This study the preservation and digital documentation of Malay traditional dance, with a particular focus on Joget Serampang Laut, through the application of advanced motion capture technology. The importance of this research lies in addressing the critical gap in the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, specifically the detailed documentation and transmission of traditional dance forms, which are under threat from modernization and cultural assimilation. Joget Serampang Laut, a dance deeply embedded in Malay culture and philosophy, reflects the values, beliefs, and identity of the Malay people, making its preservation crucial for maintaining cultural continuity. The primary objectives are to identify the fundamental components, philosophy, and symbolic representations within the dance movements of Joget Serampang Laut, while also analyse how digital tools can be effectively utilized to document, visualize, and purpose the micro visual motion signature patterns to support the dance’s philosophical essence.
