Abstract

Green technology innovation, environmental, social, and governance (ESG), and digitalization are essential initiatives that enterprises should undertake in the course of development, emphasizing a balanced pursuit of economic, social, and ecological benefits. Consequently, this study examines the effect of green technology innovation and ESG performance on the financial performance of A-listed companies in China. Moreover, it explores the interaction effect of digital level. This study uses A-listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen as the sample from 2015 to 2022. It employs a fixed effects model (FEM) for the regression analysis. It is found that the two dimensions and overall green technology innovation are significantly negatively correlated with financial performance. However, the overall and three dimensions of ESG performance are significantly positively related to financial performance.
