Abstract
In the present study, copper is used as the metal, and the ligands are ciprofloxacin/decanoic acid and diclofenac/decanoic acid. The copper(ii)-ciprofloxacin/decanoic acid and copper(ii)-diclofenac/decanoic acid complexes are synthesized using an electrochemical technique, where electrolysis is conducted with a copper foil as the anode and a graphite rod as the cathode in a 0.01 m potassium nitrate electrolyte solution. The synthesized copper(ii)-ciprofloxacin/decanoic acid and copper(ii)-diclofenac/decanoic acid complexes was characterized using attenuated total reflectance-fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance, uv-vis spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction and energy dispersive x-ray analysis. The characterization results proved that copper(ii)-ciprofloxacin/decanoic acid and copper(ii)-diclofenac/decanoic acid complexes has been successfully synthesized using electrochemical technique (electrolysis). To study the effect of electrolysis conditions on the copper particle size in copper(ii)-ciprofloxacin/decanoic acid and copper(ii)-diclofenac/decanoic acid complexes morphologies, different values of applied voltages (1 v, 5 v and 10 v), supporting electrolyte concentrations which is potassium nitrate (0.01 m, 0.1 m, 0.5 m) and initial ph (3, 4.5, 7, 9 and 11) were investigated using transmission electron microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy.
