Abstract

This study aimed at isolating potential PHBHx-degrading bacteria from soil, plastisphere and brackish water samples. In this study, a total of 22 PHA-degrading bacteria were screened for their ability to degrade different types of PHA, particularly PHBHx with different 3HHx monomeric compositions, using clear zone assays. Results showed that as the 3HHx monomer composition increased, the number of bacteria capable of degrading the copolymer decreased.
