Abstract

The effect of the CaO to P205 mole ratio on the crystallisation of Calcium phosphate glass is the first study based on the Ca0/P205 glass system. The investigation on this system is of interest due to its capability to be used as a bioceramic material. In the first stage of the research, phosphate glasses with theoretical composition of 0.85, 0.95, 1.10 and 1.20 mol ratios were produced. Then, they were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescent (XRF) and differential thermal analyses (DTA). Next, they were heat-treated at 600°C for 24 hours and 48 hours to produce calcium phosphate glass ceramic. The effects of two different rates of temperature increase on the crystallisation of calcium phosphate glass were investigated during this process.
