Abstract

Kajiftn ini mengkaji perkembangan serta perubahan yang berlaku dari segi perami'n ~ - dan doktrin TLDM dari perspektif keselamatan dan pertahanan serta isu maritim pada amnya dalam konteks perubahan dalam Dasar Luar Malaysia semenjak negara mencapai kemerdekaan hingga pada mas a kini. Ini termasuk perubahan yang berlaku dari segi Konvensyen Undang-Undang Laut (UNCLOS) dan kesannya ke atas Malaysia dari segi politik, ekonomi, keselamatan dan kedaulatan wilayah, terutama sekali termasuk perisytiharan peta benua baru Malaysia yang meliputi perisytiharan Malaysia terhadap kawasan pelantar benua (continental shelf) dan kawasan 200 batu nautika Zon Ekonomi Eksklusif. This thesis studies the development and change in policy orientatio1'1: and doctrine of the RMN from the perspective of security and defence as well as in terms of maritime issues in general in relation to the changes that have occurred in Malaysia's Foreign Policy since Independence until now. This includes the changes to the Law of the Sea Convention (UNCLOS) and their impact politically, economically and in security and territorial terms on Malaysia especially Malaysia's proclamation of new map which also includes identification of the new continental shelf and the 200 nautical mile Economic Exclusive Zpne (EEZ).
