Abstract

This study was the preliminary stage of the development of wet formed fire retardant fiberboard. Aluminium trihydroxide (ATH) slurry was used as the fire retardant chemical and it was precipitated through laboratory method. Wet process (S2S) was used to manufacture fiberboard with admixture fibers from rubberwood and old corrugated container. Fiberboards were made at ratio of rubberwood fibers to old corrugated container fibers as 10010, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75, 011 00 in weight percentage. Meanwhile, 2% liquid form of phenol formaldehyde (PF) resin, and 10%, 15% and 20% of ATH based on the oven dry weight of fibers were used.
