Abstract

Government of Malaysia has encouraged the development of renewable energy as a fifth source of fuel along with the existing oil, natural gas, coal and hydro in the future planning. Major development of renewable energy in Malaysia is concentrated in biomass and solar energy. This paper introduces ocean wave as another type of renewable and dean energy source that is available around the West Malaysian coastline. The potential of the ocean wave energy resource have been estimated and presented.
