This report presents the design and fabrication of a high frequency transformer for 2.4kW inverter applications. The transformer was operated within the inverter module switching frequency of 25 kHz. The MnZn P type core material has been used in the design. Two set of E-E geometry cores were stacked in order to achieve the required 64.14 cm4 of the WAAc volume. An interleaved foil winding has been implemented to reduce further the Eddy current loss and at the same time increasing the fill factor of the transformer. The complete system which consists of DC-DC regulator, DC filter,DC-AC inverter and the AC output filter is able to maintain the transformer efficiency within 93% for overall load operation. The core loss is found to be 15.96 W and the total winding losses was 17.64 W. The percentage of THD from the output power of the inverter system is maintained below 15% up to 2.4kW rating.
