Abstract

There are significant number of workers in rice mills and sawmills in Malaysia. A large amount of dust is generated especially during the milling rice 'and cutting wood. Rice . husk dust has been shown to have high silica content, and silica has been known to be associated with pulmonary diseases including cancers. A few studies' reported on the effect of saw dust, but the result (lung function parameters) reported were worse than their. control groups.
